Shaljam Gosht Recipe - Turnip with Meat Recipe by Lotus Food Gallery

It is a Pakistani dish prepared with some spices, meat and turnips.Shaljam Gosht ???? ???? - Curry a very tasty combination of turnips and meat that is very simple to cook. It can be served with either Roti or Rice. Although it is a regularly prepared stew especially in the winters, if prepared with a little care it turns out absolutely delicious.
If anything beats Aloo Gosht this winter, it's Shaljam Gosht Curry. There's nothing better than a rich, steaming pot of mutton curry with chunks of turnip. Shalgam gosht recipe. This dish originated from Kashmir in the winter where turnips were stored in the snow, as they were one of the few vegetables around.
1 Kg Meat on bone - (Mutton or Beef)
1 cup Cooking Oil
3 Medium Sized Onions - Thinly sliced
2 Large or 3 Medium sized tomatoes - roughly Chopped.
1 Heaped Tbsp Ginger and Garlic Paste
1 Tbsp Chilli Powder (Increase or Decrease amount as per your requirement)
1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp Coriander Powder
1 Tsp Salt OR to taste ( I usually add more than a teaspoon)
Some Water
A little more than Half a Kilo of Turnips - Peeled and cut into Chunks
Some Cilantro and a few Green Chillies
1 Tsp Garam Masala
